Meet the People Behind Every "She Loves Going to Class!": Our MNM Creating and Performing Team
Every week, somewhere in Baulkham Hills, a parent asks their child what they did at class today. And every week, across hundreds of these conversations, the answer circles back to the same thing: the people.
"Miss Lauren let me lead the warm-up."
"My teacher remembered that I like the ribbon prop."
"She said I did really well with the new bit and she was proud of me."
These are not incidental moments. They are the whole point. Because at MNM Creating and Performing, we have always understood that the curriculum is only as good as the people delivering it, and the relationship between a teacher and a young child is one of the most powerful developmental tools that exists.
What We Look For in Our Educators
Qualification matters. All of our teachers hold relevant qualifications in their performing arts disciplines and in early childhood education or child development. We invest in ongoing professional development because we believe that the best educators never stop learning.
But qualifications are only the beginning of what we look for. The qualities that cannot be taught, that have to be found, recognised, and nurtured, are the ones that define the MNM Creating and Performing team:
•Genuine delight in children, not tolerance, not patience as an act of will, but actual joy in the presence of young people. You cannot fake this, and children know immediately whether it's real.
•Attunement, the ability to read a room, to sense when a child is struggling before they can articulate it, to adjust in real time to what the group or an individual needs.
•Warmth that is consistent, not just on the good days, not just with the easy children, but with every child in every class regardless of how the day has gone.
•A developmental mindset, understanding that the goal of every class is not a perfect performance but a growing child, and measuring success accordingly.
•Humility, the willingness to keep learning, to receive feedback, and to accept that there is always more to understand about how children develop and what they need.
What Our Teachers Do Between Classes
What parents see is the class. What they don't see is everything that makes the class possible.
Our teachers think about your children between sessions. They notice when something was off last week and plan how to support that child differently this week. They communicate with each other about individual children to ensure consistency across the team. They reach out to parents when they observe something worth sharing, positive or otherwise.
They attend professional development. They reflect on their practice. They argue, kindly, about the best way to approach a particular challenge with a particular child. They care, genuinely and specifically, about the children in their care.
This is not something we mandate. It is something that happens naturally when you hire people who chose this work because they believe in it.
The Relationship Between Teacher and Child Is the Programme
There is a concept in early childhood education called the "key person approach", the idea that young children need a consistent, trusted adult figure in any group setting, someone whose face and name they know, who knows them in return, and through whose relationship with them all learning flows.
We do not formally label it this way, but this principle is embedded in everything we do. When a child at MNM Creating and Performing bonds with their teacher, that relationship becomes the safety net that makes everything else possible. The child who was anxious at the door is calm because their teacher is there. The child who was reluctant to try tries because their teacher believes they can.
The teacher is not just the person delivering the curriculum. The teacher is the curriculum.
A Word from Our Founder
MNM Creating and Performing was born from the families who asked us for something more. Parents in the Hills District who wanted a performing arts home built around their children — around what they genuinely need, how they naturally grow, and who they truly are.
Not around what looks impressive from the outside. Not around what scales efficiently, or earns accolades. Around people. Around the quiet, meaningful work of finding the right teachers, holding space for them to do their very best, and tending carefully to the relationships that bloom between them and the children and families they serve.
We pour our hearts into getting that right, and when a parent leans in and says "she absolutely loves her teacher", we feel it. That's everything. That's exactly why we're here.
We'll keep showing up for every child, in every class, one beautiful moment at a time.
